Food Republic Marks 12 Years of Redefining Hawker Fare with Reinvigorated Flagship Outlet
Wisma Atria outlet reopens with exciting new offerings and popular favourites in a nostalgic Nanyang-inspired theme
Food Republic’s first flagship outlet at Wisma Atria reopens today with an exciting new tenant line-up, a Nanyang-inspired concept and a slew of exclusive in-store activities and promotions. Marking 12 years in the food court business, the outlet will offer a wide selection of authentic Asian hawker fare in its iconic hallmark thematic setting.
“Our first-ever outlet at Wisma Atria continues to attract crowds today, especially diners who want a taste of authentic hawker fare in a comfortable, thematic setting,” said Mr Andy Kiu, General Manager, Food Republic Singapore. “With this makeover, we hope to continue immersing our customers in the melting pot of rich heritage and experiences of Asian cuisine that form such a significant part of Singapore’s food culture.”
Impressions of Nanyang: An Epicurean Journey
The interior of Food Republic Wisma Atria features artistic sights of yesteryears with its nostalgic mosaic-design and retro-coloured furnishings, vintage paraphernalia and children’s toys and games, taking diners on a journey back into the Nanyang era. Posters and enamel signage reminiscent of the old Nanyang era, adorn the walls. Diners who have lived through this period and even younger Singaporeans will be transported back in time when they visit this outlet.
Integrating hawker fare with mini restaurants in an open dining concept, the newly-refurbished Wisma flagship outlet will see seven brand new stalls added to the popular mix. From established hawker names such as Koo Kee Yong Tow Foo Mee, Aher Soup, Ali Shan Curry Rice and The Original Katong Laksa which are steeped in decades of culinary tradition, to younger stallholders such as 1 Feast, Hao Hokkien Mee, and Yakiniku Express that offer a contemporary epicurean alternative, these exciting new stalls will add to the range of authentic hawker fare.
Perennial favourites, such as RedRing Treasures, Yah Fu Mini Wok Zhi Char and Huat Huat BBQ Chicken Wings, will continue to operate and serve loyal patrons, while five mini restaurants, Koh Grill & Sushi Bar, Din Tai Fung, He Niu Teppanyaki, Woo Lee Jeeb Dae Bak and Toast Box, will offer customers a distinctive in-restaurant dining experience unique to Food Republic.
Still drawing crowds after 12 years
Food Republic was founded on the concept of serving well-loved street fare at affordable prices housed in the air-conditioned comfort of shopping malls. With the opening of its first flagship outlet at Wisma Atria in 2005, the brand has revolutionised the food court scene in Singapore by being the first to introduce the
quintessential thematic food atrium experience, bringing together the best of hawker and restaurant fare under a single roof. Promoting the appreciation of cultures and heritage in Asian cuisine, Food Republic continues to hand-pick reputable, dedicated hawkers to reflect the authentic taste that people love, while providing an immersive experience for all senses, which includes the ‘live’ cooking demonstration delivered through each stall’s open-kitchen concept.
Since its humble beginnings, Food Republic has grown from one flagship outlet in Singapore to over 60 outlets globally. As Food Republic continues to reinvent and modernise itself with technology advancements, its digital and mobile initiatives enable it to reach out to a wider audience of modern, tech-savvy consumers. Diners can look forward to an upcoming mobile app that encourages and facilitates cashless payments. Quick to adapt to shifting consumer trends, Food Republic was also one of the earliest food atriums in Singapore to offer cashless payments.
A slew of reopening activities and promotions to look forward to
In celebration of its 12-year anniversary and the reopening of its first flagship outlet, Food Republic is organising exclusive activities and promotions at Wisma Atria to reward and entertain regular and new patrons. From November 2017 till January 2018, diners can look forward to receiving free gifts and discounts on selected food and beverages as well as participating in fun and exciting sure-win games.
