Leadership

Today, a colleague praised my teammate for providing her with a solution to her impossible situation, sharing with her how easy it can be done, and assuring her that he will always be there to support her whenever necessary.

Pretending not to have heard the conversation by being absolutely engrossed, I was actually very touched and proud of my teammate.

Today, after a thousand-word effort in coaxing, I praised another teammate for her decision and courage to respond to a difficult email. She wrote professionally and fluently, I am so proud of her tremendous improvement.

Our team has had it's ups and downs. I am extremely happy I think I just cried knowing they will be touching their 2year milestone soon. They have come so, so far.

We throw tantrums at each other, we sometimes ignore each other just for fun, sometimes we even tag teams on rotation to 'attack' each other. We are terribly insulting and critical of each other in various sort of languages, sometimes we laugh so loud, sometimes we are absolutely silent, sometimes we do strange and sometimes stupid activities together.

There are no secrets, no lies and no hidden motives. We are transparent, we support each other and we watch each other's back. The bond we built over time cultivated a One for all and All for one environment, which eventually saw us going out of our way for one another. Nobody is more superior than the other, everyone complements everyone like a jigsaw puzzle.

We never stop learning from each other. We never stop trying. We never stop encouraging. We never stop supporting. Most importantly, we never give up on each other no matter what happens because we believe without doubts and we trust without questions.

I am happy and look forward to work everyday to meet them and to work with them. I am proud to be a part of my team. Despite the occasional disappointments and setbacks that I face from time to time, I know that we have an unspoken connected 'frequency' that we face tough times together, they've got my back, and so I will never walk alone.

We are A Great Team.

Thank you Cat.
Thank you Seng.
(No cat is not number 1, it is in an alphabetical order, and No, there is no free meal lol)

Here are some inspiring quotes that I have adopted and I'd like to share:

A leader takes people where they want to go.
A Great leader takes people where they don’t want to go But ought to Be.
— Rosalynn Carter

Power isn’t control at all —
Power is strength, and giving that Strength to others.
A leader isn’t someone who forces others to make him stronger;
A leader is someone willing to give his strength to Others
that they may have the strength to stand on their own.
― Beth Revis

When trouble arises and things look bad,
there is always one individual who perceives a solution and is willing to take command.
Very often, that person is Crazy.
— Dave Barry

My favourite from Steve Jobs:
Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The trouble-makers. The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently… they change things.
They push the human race forward.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

Rules that I always remind myself with:

1)
True leaders to not make people into followers,
But into other leaders.
- John Holt

2)
Followers think and talk about the problems.
Leaders think and talk about the solutions.
- Brian Tracy

And Finally my KPI,

3)
My job is not to be easy on people.
My job is to take these great people we have
And to push them and make them even Better.
- Steve Jobs
